Move Asset to New Location in Hierarchy

Assets maintained in your organization can be moved to different parts of the Asset List. All changes made to an asset’s location are recorded on the Asset’s History tab (Location Changes sub-tab).

ClosedMove an Asset through Cut and Paste

  1. Locate the asset in the Asset List.

  2. Right-click the asset.

    A dialog box displays that includes the option to cut the asset.

  3. Select Cut from the available options.

    No action is taken until you have designated where the cut asset should be pasted.

  4. Move to the node on the asset tree that should be the new parent for the asset.

  5. Right-click the node.

    A dialog box displays that includes the option to paste the asset.

  6. Select Paste

    The asset is moved to the new location and the change is recorded on the Asset’s Location Changes sub-tab.

    If the asset you have moved is a rotating asset (associated with a rotating inventory item), movements in and out of stock rooms is recorded on the inventory item's Transactions tab.

ClosedMove an Asset through Drag and Drop

  1. Locate the asset in the Asset List.

  2. Click and drag the asset to the new node of the asset list.

    As you begin to drag the asset, the cursor will turn to a circle with a slash through it, indicating that you are not in a location where the asset can be moved. The cursor will change to a square with a small plus sign inside when it is moved to a node of the tree where the asset can be moved.

    The node to which the asset is moved is underlined.

  3. Release the mouse button when the new node is underlined.

    A dialog box opens, asking you to confirm your choice.

  4. Click Yes.

    The asset is moved to the new location and the change is recorded on the Asset’s Location Changes sub-tab.

    If the asset you have moved is a rotating asset (associated with a rotating inventory item), movements in and out of stock rooms is recorded on the inventory item Transactions tab.
